“Miracles are among us.”

The community in King Grey Township is largely made up of indigenous people making their livelihoods however they can---mainly fishing or trading. Many are unemployed; all are overlooked. Edwin Collins, the Town Chief, said, “We were given this land and our heritage with little else. The former slaves have water, electricity, and money. We are not rich like them, and no one has come to help us. Someone came to put a pump on our old wells, but they are dirty and run dry.”
The stain of being ignored for so long is deep. It took several extended teaching sessions to help the people of King Grey Township understand even the most common hygiene practices. Drilling was challenging, too, because of the geology of the area, and there were two near-disastrous sinkholes.
At the end of the third day, though, a new well was installed here, and clean water flowed from the spout amid joyful cheers. “God brought you to us,” Edwin said. “See, my people are Christians, and miracles are among us.”
